Tax law developments, disclosure, compliance and economic substance will be firmly on the agenda at a conference later this month.
Law firm, DQ Advocates, is to host its tax conference at the Comis Hotel in Santon on Thursday, March 26.
A total of 14 expert speakers will address a range of issues throughout the day-long event which is designed to provide practical and commercially relevant guidance to senior figures in financial services businesses.
Among the speakers, DQ will welcome specialist tax barrister Harriet Brown, business crime consultant Wendi Bussin, deputy assessor of income tax Paul Martin, head of trusts and pensions for the Sovereign Group Kerry Scholes and Peter Knight, international compliance officer for the Isle of Man Treasury.
Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan will present the opening remarks with DQ consultant Greg Jones, a respected figure in the taxation and business network, hosting the event.
Mr Jones said: ’We are delighted to once again have such a high calibre of speakers and are looking forward to a number of insightful presentations, panel discussions and question and answer sessions which should prove invaluable for attendees.
’The conference offers delegates from across the financial services industry, including senior compliance and anti-money laundering officers, the opportunity to hear from expert speakers on topics such as tax disclosure, FATCA/CRS compliance and how to incorporate tax compliance into data protection and risk management frameworks.
’Overall, it will provide a clear insight for our clients and local industry into the main business issues of the day; something we strive to do on a regular basis.
’It has been fully subscribed in recent years so we would urge anyone interested to register in advance ahead of the deadline on March 17.’
