Following up a debut album is a tricky thing to do, especially if that album was met with critical acclaim.

That is the enviable position that Aeons, a Manx progressive/tech metal band find themselves in as they release their second album, ’Consequences’.

Following on from 2019’s ’A Tragic End’, which received widespread praise from all corners of the globe, the five members of Aeons, singer Skippy Hilton, guitarists Simon Harvey and Scott Sayers, bassist Joe Holland and drummer Justin Wallace, upped their game and, while sticking to the formula that created their incredibly tight and almost overwhelmingly powerful sound, reached out to industry professionals to hone ’Consequences’ and help the band kick on.

’"Consequences" was recorded pretty much the same way as "A Tragic End" was,’ said Skippy.

’Simon has a pretty good home studio so everything is produced by us in house.

’The main difference between this album and the last, production wise, is we got this one professionally mastered in Germany.

’Don’t get me wrong, Simon had produced the best sounding album I have ever heard locally, but collectively we felt it needed that extra sparkle only a mastering engineer can achieve.

’To say we are delighted with the results is an understatement.’

Already ’Consequences’ and the first single ’Rubicon’, have been met with rave reviews, with one respected online magazine making it their album of the week.

’We have had some really good critiques from all over the world already,’ said Skippy.

’Websites from Spain, Italy, the US, Portugal, England, Germany have all submitted reviews online, and all have been positive.

’It’s quite scary looking through your fingers at a review hoping that the person writing hasn’t got out of bed the wrong side that day, but thankfully so far they’ve all been pretty good.

’We knew it was going to be a challenge trying to top Tragic, but once we had finished recording the songs for Consequences we were pretty sure we were on to a winner.

’This time we are taking no chances however, and have employed a very good PR company to handle the release of this album.

’We have also had management offers which we are considering.’

The next step for the band is to get themselves across the water and in front of new audiences.

Covid put paid to any plans the band had to promote their debut album, but they are hoping to have more luck this year and next.

’By the time we were ready to go the world stopped, but we absolutely will be getting over to the UK as soon as we can.

’Hopefully with the interest Consequences is garnering we should be able to get some shows organised and finally get to play to some new faces.

’My dream is to play Download Festival before I die, so hopefully employing the services of professional people will bring us closer to that goal!’

The new album is out now.
