The government is looking for a new chairman for the Steam Packet.
The job advertisement will appear in tomorrow’s Isle of Man Courier.
Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan MHK says that a recruitment process to appoint a new chair has begun.
The Treasury is undertaking the process as sole shareholder following the Isle of Man Government’s purchase of the company in May 2018, which was aimed at providing long-term stability to the island’s lifeline ferry operations.
The government bought it from Portuguese-based Banco Espirito Santo in a £124m deal.
The Isle of Man Examiner exclusively revealed the plan.
The post of chairman will become vacant on March 31 when Robert Quayle retires after 11 years as chairman and more than 20 years as director.
Mr Cannan said: ’The next few years promise to be an exciting time in the long and proud history of the Steam Packet - work has now started on the Isle of Man ferry terminal in Liverpool and the company is currently consulting the public as it plans major investment in its fleet.
’The role of chair is crucial to establishing the strategic direction of the island’s sea services, including these developments, and I look forward to considering applicants with the necessary experience and business acumen to oversee and support the board.’
He added: ’While looking forward to the future, it’s important to acknowledge the part played by the outgoing chairman during his time with Steam Packet, and I thank Robert for his long and diligent service.’
The role’s requirements and criteria have been published on the Treasury section of the Government website and an advertisement will appear in the Isle of Man Courier tomorrow.
Anyone interested in the post should submit their application by Sunday, December 22.
The paper version of the Courier will be delivered from tomorrow morning.
The digital version will be available online from 7.30am.
