A local historian will offer an insight into the history of farming on the Isle of Man this weekend.

The Manx Branch of the Celtic Congress is hosting the illustrated talk by Chris Callow (above), entitled ’Intack Farms in the Manx Uplands - From Enclosure to Abandonment’ at the Guild room of Peel Methodist Church, on Saturday, February 1, from 2.30pm.

The development of agricultural and intack land is a unique piece of Manx history, and involves land that was previously unoccupied hill land that was brought into cultivation more, during the 17th century.

This process helped to shape the island’s landscape as we know it today.

The organisers say everyone is very welcome to go along and hear Chris, who also works as a local tour guide, and enjoy a cooish over refreshments.

The talk is free, with donations accepted to covered overheads.
