The name of PC Fiona Bone, who was killed while on duty in 2012 in Greater Manchester will be included in a sentinel in Port St Mary’s garden of remembrance.

PC Bone, who was brought up in the village where her parents still live, was 32 when she was killed in a gun and grenade attack as she and PC Nicola Hughes, 23, investigated a hoax burglary.

In the high profile case, described as a ’despicable act ... of pure evil’ by then Prime Minister David Cameron, their murderer Dale Cregan was given a life sentence.

At a recent meeting, deputy clerk Hayley Phillips told commissioners the parents agreed for their daughter’s name to be included and they will donate £500 to the project.

’The authority appealed for names for two additional sentinels which will go in the garden of remembrance.

One sentinel will include any names omitted from the existing sentinels of any Port St Mary resident who served in either world war or the forces or Merchant Navy and has since died.

The second sentinel will commemorate any Port St Mary resident who has served in the line of an emergency service duty and since deceased.
