A door-to-door fundraiser is taking place to help those affected by poverty around the world.

Community members are banding together to raise money on behalf of Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) by knocking on doors around the island’s capital.

Last year the group raised £3,700 of which 20% was donated to Rebecca House children’s hospice.

They will begin their initiative on Saturday (March 30) and it will continue to April 14.

Sha-sha Mugari, who is leading the initiative, said: ’We can see that there are millions of people that will need help especially in southern Africa where the impact of Cyclone Idai was severe.

’ADRA is already on the ground providing relief to those affected in Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique.’

ADRA is the global humanitarian organisation of the Seventh-day Adventist Church that provides relief and development assistance to people in more than 130 countries.

This is regardless of their ethnicity, political affiliation or religious association.
