Now that social distancing measures has been lifted on the island, Girlguiding has resumed face-to-face unit meetings.
The Manx organisation had to secure special exemption from Girlguiding’s UK national headquarters to return to meet up again before their UK counterparts.
During their first meeting, Ninth Douglas Brownies did some Irish dancing, learnt some Portuguese and played some games, before eating banoffee pie.
Girlguiding Isle of Man say they have lots of unit meetings planned over the next few weeks. Many units have plans to embrace the great outdoors with some beach and park visits.
Karen Walker, island commissioner, said: ’During the past few months I have been amazed at the Guiding spirit shown by the girls and leaders, whilst having fun in so many unusual ways.
’They have completed Adventures at Home, shown kindness in their community and have completed Boredom Buster challenges, but, most importantly, they have all looked after each other and shown the togetherness of Guiding.
’Now we have the great news that Girlguiding Isle of Man can meet face-to-face again, and we can go back to our unit meetings together.’
