Two of the island’s top chefs went head to head to demonstrate their culinary skills in the Isle of Man Chef of the Year final.
Tyler Livesey from Jean-Pierre’s Bistro in Ramsey and Vladimir Dvorak from Harbour Lights at the Sefton Hotel in Douglas competed in the final following the heats in June.
The final was part of the Isle of Man Food and Drink Festival.
Mr Livesey prepared a back saddle of Manx goat with goat’s cheese while Mr Dvorak cooked up a fillet of Manx lamb with lamb jus, potato gnocchi and shepherd’s pie foie gras.
They cooked under the watchful eye of the judging panel, Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney and Lady Gozney, Food Minister Geoffrey Boot MHK and chef Tony Quirk.
Mr Livesey was announced as the winner, and his prize includes a day’s experience working in one of London’s premier restaurants, co-ordinated by Colby-born chef Colin Clague, the executive chef of a prestigious restaurant in the United Arab Emirates.
Mr Boot said: ’The Isle of Man Chef of the Year competition, and the final, celebrate both the extraordinary culinary talent of the island’s chefs and the superb quality of our island’s local produce.
’Congratulations to the finalists.’
The event was sponsored by Robinson’s.
