What is your idea of a perfect meal?
A vegetable noodle soup. It’s warm and feels like home. Hits the spot every time.
What is your favourite way to relax?
With a book or the most recent ’Red Dead’ game. There’s something really mindful about being an outlaw running around fishing and hunting for hours.
What is your greatest extravagance?
Hopefully an accordion, I’ve always wanted one.
Do you have any pets?
No, but I know my life would be 10 times better with a canine companion.
What is your greatest achievement?
Taking that step forward in being shameless.
What is your favourite time of the year?
Anytime it hits 30 degrees and everybody’s complaining about the heat.
What is the first job you ever had?
A shop assistant.
Do you have any irrational fears?
How big the universe really is and our role in it. Terrifying.
What is your worst habit?
Overthinking.
What is your favourite book?
Under a Dancing Star by Laura Wood. It’s a retelling of Much Ado About Nothing, but the reason I love it so much because it really makes me feel like the wealthy 1930s bohemian in Italy I never was.
What is your favourite TV programme?
Avatar, the Last Airbender and Anne with an E. I’m a sucker for well-written, wholesome shows about kung fu and literature.
What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?
Joe Hisaishi. He’s composed scores for the earlier Studio Ghibli films and you know it’s him as soon as you feel like you’re walking through a flowery meadow in a perfectly composed shot by Hayao Miyazaki.
What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?
There’s a small field just off the Nunnery path and when me and my friend discovered it on a walk last summer, it really didn’t feel like a real place. It was so amazing.
What is the last show/band that you saw live?
Moon Monsoon. I’ve been trying to make the effort to catch more gigs.
If time/money were no object, what would be your perfect day?
A commute on the Underground with a mocha and a bagel on my way to an exhausting but rewarding rehearsal. It’s summer and I can spend the rest of the day exploring a glen with my best friends and then lazing in a patch of sun with a book. There’s a jazz band in the distance. I think I would also have a dog.
Choose three people, dead or alive, to invite to dinner?
Josè Rizal. He’s a Filipino National hero, doctor, architect, author and fought hard for Filipino independence. Oscar Wilde, because I imagine he’ll be like a drunk, generous aunt and Bong Joon Ho, because he creates masterpieces and maybe he would cast me in his next feature film.
