Groudle Glen Railway has said it has taken the decision to cancel the Easter Bunny Train services for 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The Easter Bunny trains is the railway’s opening event each year and is popular with young families.
A spokesman from the railway said that the ’health and well-being of our valued visitors, volunteers and supporters are of utmost importance to us, so we’ve taken the decision to cancel the event on Easter Sunday and Monday in order to play our part in stopping the spread of the virus’.
The spokesman added: ’We understand that this will be a huge disappointment to many, but ultimately we want to protect the health and safety of everyone using the Railway and the wider community.
’Although this has been a tough decision for us to make, we believe that this is the most responsible route to take to help combat this disease.
’In the meantime we are directly contacting everyone who purchased any tickets for the event in advance to arrange refunds or alternative arrangements. We thank you for your support of the charity and hope you will return to support us when we will really need you, once the situation has improved.
’We hope that all of our visitors, supporters and volunteers stay safe and healthy and we send our very best wishes to you all and remind you to keeping washing your hands.
’We look forward to welcoming you on board in the future.’
