The Health Minister has confirmed his department is in negotiations with Dr Rachel Glover over continuing to use her company to employ Covid-19 testing agents.

Dr Glover of Taxa Genomics, a leading scientist in the island’s Covid testing lab, announced her resignation last month following public disagreements over the government’s testing policy.

Interviewed by Isle of Man TV, she signalled a possible return to the testing lab.

She said: ’We all have our own niche areas and areas of expertise and so whilst we’ve got the team trained up there are still elements where I’m very much needed in that process.

’And that’s why we are going through a negotiation at the moment to get me back in to do the work I was doing before as an external contractor.’

Health Minister David Ashford said: ’The contract negotiations are around continuing to use her company to employ the testing agents.’

Asked if that was different from saying that she could be taken back on herself, he replied: ’It is as the contract will be with the company.’

He said Dr Glover had previously been employed as a bank contractor with the DHSC.
