Patient transfers will be allowed to continue, despite the island’s borders closing.
The Department of Health and Social Care has confirmed that people with urgent healthcare appointments will be able to travel to and from the island.
Anyone with an appointment in the UK over the next seven days will be contacted by the Patient Transfer team to assess whether the need is urgent and if so to arrange travel and accommodation.
Patients with appointments that are due after the seven days are asked to contact Patient Transfer. The urgency of their appointments will also be assessed and, if deemed necessary, their travel and accommodation will be arranged.
Any patient currently in the UK receiving treatment will also be able to return to the island, but should contact the Patient Transfer team to make these arrangements.
Patients who arranged their own travel, should contact the Patient Transfer team to make their arrangements.
The Patient Transfer Office is open 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm Monday to Friday, phone number 642673.
In an emergency outside these hours, cases will be managed by the duty Air Ambulance coordinator on 650000.
