Those who have already received a vaccine to combat Covid-19 are still being asked to shield for 21 days.

The Department of Health and Social Care also recommends that anyone who has contracted coronavirus and has had their first vaccination dose, should wait until they have fully recovered to get their second.

Shielding advice is reinstated for all individuals considered as clinically extremely vulnerable.

These individuals should have received a letter, telling them to shield in the January circuit-break lockdown.

No more letters are due to be issued.

The DHSC said clinically vulnerable people should stay at home and try to maintain a two-metre distance from others in their household, especially if they display symptoms of the virus, or have been told to self-isolate.

This is irrespective of whether or not an individual has been vaccinated against Covid-19, and will be reviewed in due course.

Health Minister David Ashford said: ’It’s important that those who have even had one or even two doses of vaccine still continue to shield if they’re in the shielding category.

’I know that will be frustrating for many people that yet again, they’re being asked to shield for 21 days.

’We will review the process as the period goes along.’
