Chief Minister Howard Quayle said there are no proposals being drawn up for vaccine passports.
Replying to a Tynwald question, Mr Quayle said there are no plans at present to produce additional travel documentation for those who have had the Covid jab.
He said there is no evidence yet that the vaccine prevents an individual from carrying and spreading the virus.
Mr Quayle pointed out GPs will hold data confirming patients have been vaccinated and it is possible that they will be able to provide confirmation if required for travel.
He said: ’Issues need to be discussed globally if vaccination passports are to become a prerequisite for travel.’
These issues include what certification would be needed, questions about privacy and sharing of information, and about equality and discrimination.
’What about those who can’t be vaccinated - would they be prevented from travelling?’ he asked.
’It’s a complex issue and we will react to it once we see where it is leading to.’
He added there is no planning in place to offer private vaccinations.
’Should things change in the future where it looks like the UK are requesting documentation for residents from the Isle of Man to freely move around the UK then we will of course respond and react to that,’ he said.
