Culture Vannin are attempting to trace the identity of an unknown singer.

A 50-year-old recording of a Christmas church service in 1968 has recently been uncovered, featuring a version of the Manx song ’Oikan ayns Bethlehem’ (Child in Bethlehem’) and attempts are being made to find out who the unknown singer is.

’This performance is something very special,’ said Dr Chloe Woolley, Manx Music Development Officer at Culture Vannin. ’This song has been performed by many of the leading musicians today. But this 1968 performance has something special about it. It would be wonderful to be able to attribute it to someone.’
