Hoarding is a recognised mental health condition which can result in large amounts of clutter accumulating within a property.
The service says excessive clutter can increase the risk of fire, restrict escape routes and make it more difficult for firefighters to enter and operate safely during an emergency.
A spokesperson from the fire service said: ‘Early support can help reduce these risks and improve safety for everyone in the home.
‘If you are concerned about someone who may be struggling with hoarding, please contact Fire Prevention on 647300 for advice and assistance.’
