Hooded Ram said it was ’hugely disappointed’ not to have been granted a full alcohol licence for the Bottleneck - and pledged to bring the festival back next year.

In a statement it said a ’fantastic line-up of major headline acts’ had been organised to play over the TT fortnight and the intention had been to ’build on the success of last year’s event’.

But it added: ’The circumstances behind the late submission of our designated official application were completely out of our control and we are disappointed that we will not be able to stage our event this year for both residents and visitors.’

Hooded Ram said that, having worked with the police and fire service to improve the layout of the venue to allow for major headline acts, the plans and an initial application had provisionally been approved by the licensing court.

But it said: ’However, following an unsuccessful application for a provisional alcohol licence by an associated company, and the comments raised during the application process, the police informed us that they needed time to review the alcohol licences held by the wider organisation.

’Once the police had completed their review and confirmed that they were happy with all our businesses that relate to the sale and production of alcohol, we continued with our licensing application, knowing that it would be a stretch to deliver the event.’

It added: ’While this review was being undertaken we have been unable to finalise the booking of the headline acts and associated supply chains. We had hoped that we would have been successful in the granting of a licence even at this late stage.

’We would like to thank Douglas Borough Council for their support over the past weeks and we look forward to working with them next year.’
