The annual Hospice Charity Golf Day has raised a record-breaking £20,430.03 after golfers, businesses and supporters came together for a day of fundraising at Rowany Golf Club.

The event, held on Friday, July 31, attracted 22 teams for the popular Texas Scramble competition, with players enjoying sunny conditions while raising money for Hospice Isle of Man.

Organisers said the total of £20,430.03 surpassed last year's fundraising figure of £16,990, making it the most successful Hospice Golf Day to date.

Alongside the golf competition, participants supported a range of fundraising activities throughout the day, including a raffle and Billy Kewley's Hickory Challenge.

The Rowany Golf Club team, comprising Club Captain G Sutton, J Sutton, D Clarke Wilson and J Corke, claimed first place in the Texas Scramble.

Second place went to the Apricot Investments team of R Jones, J Delaney, S Thomas and N Quigley, while Agrimark's team of M Sutton, J Ludgate, B Newton and A Cregeen finished third.

Prizes were also presented in the Hickory Challenge nearest-the-pin competition, with J Crellin, R Jones, J Corke and J Wagstaffe among the winners.

Hospice chief executive officer Fiona Hatton said the event demonstrated the extraordinary generosity of the Isle of Man community.

‘Every year this event reminds us what can be achieved when our business community comes together for a common cause,’ she said.

‘Every team that entered, every sponsor, every raffle ticket purchased and every volunteer who gave their time has helped make a real difference to local people and families who rely on Hospice care.

‘To have achieved a record-breaking total this year is simply incredible, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who made it possible.’
