Craig's Heartstrong Foundation has expanded its network of life-saving equipment across the Isle of Man with the installation of two new public access defibrillators in the west of the island.

Representatives from the charity helped to officially unveiled the latest devices at Sunset Lakes in Peel and Peel Campsite, giving both popular visitor destinations 24-hour access to emergency defibrillation equipment.

The defibrillator at Sunset Lakes was launched on Thursday.

The site, which features holiday lodges, a café, an events space and several fishing lakes surrounded by open countryside, attracts visitors throughout the year.

Natalie Arrowsmith and her team have agreed to take responsibility for maintaining the machine, helping to ensure it remains ready for use whenever it is needed.

A second defibrillator has also been installed at Peel Campsite, another busy location that welcomes visitors throughout the holiday season.

Terry Quayle and Peel Town Commissioners will oversee the upkeep and maintenance of the device.

The installations form part of Craig's Heartstrong Foundation's ongoing mission to improve public access to defibrillators across the island.

The Isle of Man charity was established in memory of Craig Lunt, who died aged 25 from an undiagnosed heart condition called Long QT Syndrome.

Since then, the foundation has worked to raise awareness of cardiac conditions, provide heart screening for young people aged between 14 and 35, and install life-saving defibrillators in schools, sports clubs, workplaces and public spaces.

The charity says rapid access to a defibrillator can dramatically improve survival rates following a sudden cardiac arrest, with every minute without CPR and defibrillation reducing the chances of survival.
