Island band Sunset Jet has been announced as the latest addition to the line-up for charity Isle Listen's upcoming Wannabe – Spice Girls Tribute fundraiser at the Villa Marina.

The event will take place on Saturday September 5, and is being held to raise funds for the organisation’s work supporting the mental health of children and young people across the Isle of Man.

Sunset Jet will open the evening before tribute act Wannabe takes to the stage.

The show is billed as the world's longest-running Spice Girls stage production and has toured internationally, performing to audiences of more than 200,000 people.

It recreates the music, costumes and performances associated with the Spice Girls and features a selection of the group's best-known songs, including Wannabe, Spice Up Your Life, Stop, 2 Become 1 and Viva Forever.

Organisers say the addition of Sunset Jet adds a local element to the event and encourages concertgoers to arrive early and enjoy the full evening's entertainment.

Jess Knight, events and community fundraising manager at Isle Listen, commented: ‘We're really pleased to have Sunset Jet on board as our local support act.

‘They're a fantastic band with a loyal following in the island and we know they'll help create a brilliant atmosphere from the moment the doors open.

‘The event is shaping up to be a fantastic night out, while also raising vital funds to support our mental health education programme. Our team delivered this programme to 8,735 young people in the 25/26 academic year, and this event will help support us through the next academic year.

After opening in 2017 to rave reviews, Wannabe has toured the UK, Europe, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Indonesia and Australia. Having played to more than 200,000 Spice Girls fans, the show is now the longest running Spice Girls tribute in the world.

The show features costumes inspired by poignant moments throughout the Spice Girls’ career, as well as original musical arrangements.

The fundraiser forms part of Isle Listen's ongoing efforts to support the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people across the island.

The organisation delivers mental health education programmes in schools, provides resources for parents, carers and teachers, and works with community groups and workplaces to promote wellbeing.

It also delivers the Talk service, commissioned by Manx Care in partnership with CAMHS, which provides a single point of access to mental health support for people under the age of 18.

The ‘Wannabe’ show will take place on Saturday, September 5 at 7pm in the Royal Hall.
