The Northern District Amenity site will close for one hour every Saturday and Sunday from the start of next month.

It’s one of a number of changes at the site at Balladoole.

Representatives from Andreas, Ballaugh, Bride, Jurby, Lezayre, Maughold and Ramsey took over the running of the site e from the Department of Infrastructure in 2016.

A spokesman said: ’Since being formed the joint committee have worked together to ensure the service provided at Balladoole has been the success it is, the demand for this service has grown year on year.

’With the increased demand it has highlighted weekends being particularly busy, with users having to wait while skips are compacted, making the site congested and challenging site safety for all.’

On Saturdays and Sundays the site will close for one hour between noon and 1pm to allow the staff to safely replenish bins, compact skips, transfer waste, tidy the re-use area and have a welfare break.

Vans and pick-ups will only be permitted on site on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Rubble and plasterboard waste will be restricted to six 25kg bags per person per week.
