Baker Tilly Isle of Man is sponsoring the award for Public Sector Achievement at this year’s Isle of Man Newspapers’ Awards for Excellence.
The award for Public Sector Achievement has always attracted top quality entries, often from people working behind the scenes in government whose attainments might otherwise go unrecognised by the wider public.
The award is also a reminder that it’s not only public servants who support the aims and ambitions of the Isle of Man.
There are many companies who go out of their way to do so and Baker Tilly Isle of Man is a notable one of those.
They have had a presence at the Monaco Boat Show for a number of years, supporting existing and potential clients and working alongside government as it continues to raise awareness of what the island has to offer as a stable, well-regulated jurisdiction.

Baker Tilly Isle of Man, as a company, is involved in meetings with DED to look at ways to open up markets to the island, such as South America, China and Russia.
Due to recent changes in legislation regarding BEPS and CRS, there is an emphasis now on having a fully managed business with a physical presence on the island. The company is now looking at attracting new businesses to the island and assisting these clients in relocating and employment related issues.
When it comes to potential business in new jurisdictions Baker Tilly Isle of Man and their clients benefit from the global network of Baker Tilly International, with which they are associated, providing local advice in jurisdictions other than the Isle of Man.
Representatives from the island firm attend as many Baker Tilly conferences as they can, to network and make contacts. Conferences are scheduled for Mexico, Amsterdam and New York.
David Stevenson, head of the group’s business development also praised what the government itself has achieved to support new business: ’If you look at the Yacht and Aircraft Registries, they are now very well regulated, organised and internationally known, which is a credit to the people running them and a credit to the investment that has been made.’
As a business, they have found their clients are becoming more interested in crypto currencies the Isle of Man Government has been very proactive in introducing legislation to support this new area of business.
David added: ’We are a diverse company with a broad spectrum of services that we can provide and we are continuing to grow organically as a business.’
