The Met Office has issued two yellow weather forecasts - one for ice and one for coastal overtopping.

The forecast:

Very cold today, cloudy but mainly dry with some brightness and sunshine this afternoon, just a few light snow flurries carried on a very strong easterly wind. Temperatures only about 3 or 4°C at best, then with quite a widespread frost developing overnight.

Staying very cold on Sunday with a strong east-northeast wind and sunny intervals and again just a few light snow showers during the morning. Temperatures only 2 or 3°C, but still freezing hard on the hills.

Temperatures recovering a little as we start the next week, dry and bright conditions with some sunshine on Monday and Tuesday, moderate northerly winds and highs of 5 or 6°C.
