Blue will be the prominent colour on Friday (November 9) as many will be taking part in a campaign to raise funds towards Crossroads Care.
Isle of Man Newspapers, which is championing Crossroads as its chosen charity of the year, will be joining others in their efforts as part of the Blue Day initiative.
This week’s Isle of Man Examiner led the way with a blue masthead and front page.
The day, which is led by telecoms provider Wi-Manx, is helping the Manx charity reach its overall target amount of £30,000 to mark its 30 years of service.
Schools such as Braddan Primary School and Ramsey Grammar School have already confirmed their participation, as well as the Isle of Man Post Office and Douglas Council.
They will be wearing blue for a £1 donation on the day.
The island’s capital will be bathed in blue as the Tower of Refuge, town hall and street lights will be changed to fit the theme.
A number of participants will be holding their own fundraisers for the Manx charity, such as bake sales and collections to add towards the Blue Day target of £5,000.
Looking ahead, representatives of the charity will be attending the Isle of Man Newspapers’ Awards For Excellence on November 15 as they have been chosen to collect donations at the doors this year. The event is being held at the Villa Marina.
Last weekend the charity hosted its annual ’Spooktacular’ fundraising event at Curraghs Wildlife Park.
Children attended in fancy dress where they got stuck in to activities such as Hubble Bubble painting, Spooky Slime and Bubbling Cauldrons.
All proceeds went towards Crossroads, which supports carers across the island.
Those wishing to take part in the Blue Day need to confirm their participation with Megan at [email protected] or Sarah Read on [email protected].
