Emily Daniel is 15 years old and has just started year 11 at Castle Rushen High School. She is a keen student of music, and has achieved the standard of grade five in violin, and also grade six in playing the piano.

She has recently completed a week’s work experience at Isle of Man Newspapers, where she had the chance to visit the House of Keys, the courts, and report on various stories around the island.

What is your idea of a perfect meal?

My idea of a perfect meal is pizza or other nice tasting foods in a sunny warm climate such as France or Italy with nice views because I love warm weather and pizza as well as many different other foods/meals.

What is your favourite way to relax?

Some of my favourite ways to relax are dancing, listening to music or playing the piano because these are all things I enjoy doing in my free time and when I do them, it lest me switch off, and I don’t tend to think of other stuff.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I like to indulge myself in music.

Do you have any pets?

No, but I’d love a dog.

What is your greatest achievement?

I think my greatest achievement is my ability to play piano and violin. I really enjoy playing these instruments and I have achieved my grade five violin and grade six piano and will be taking my grade seven piano exam soon.

What is your favourite time of the year?

My favourite time of the year is summer when the weather is nice because it means you can easily do stuff outside.

What is the first job you ever had?

In a small cafe. I mainly did the washing up.

Do you have any irrational fears?

I don’t think so. Although I really don’t like long tails.

What is your worst habit?

It would probably be over-thinking things, or sometimes not being as prepared or organised as I could be.

What is your favourite book?

The Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling or the Book Thief.

What is your favourite TV programme?

There are so many that I really can’t decide.

What is your favourite band/artist at the moment?

I like Billie Eilish, who is an American pop singer. But I have loads of favourites, so this was difficult to choose.

What is your favourite part of the Isle of Man?

Langness.

What is the last show/band that you saw live?

I can’t remember exactly but I think it was a live-screening of a ballet if that counts.

If time/money were no object, what would be your perfect day?

I would have a nice breakfast in France, maybe a croissant with fruit, that sort of thing. Then I would love to go snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef with my family and friends.

Afterwards I would also visit the Niagara Falls and then have a relaxing good meal to finish the day.
