A 30-year-old Douglas man has appeared before magistrates charged with a sexual assault by penetration.
The offence is alleged to have been committed between May 28 and 31.
He cannot be named, unless convicted, due to the Manx Government’s anonymity laws.
The man appeared in court from custody on September 24, and was represented by duty advocate Kaitlyn Shimmin.
Prosecuting advocate Sara-Jayne Dodge said that the Crown will be submitting that the case should go to the Court of General Gaol Delivery.
Ms Shimmin asked for an adjournment until October 15, to allow time for the defendant to seek further legal advice.
Bail was granted with conditions included not to contact witnesses, to obey a curfew between 10pm and 7am.
