A motorist who crashed an unroadworthy Honda Civic has been fined £750.

Twenty-year-old Dylan Robert Dickinson lost control of the vehicle on St Mark’s Road in St Mark’s, on July 7.

When police arrived, he said he thought the accident was due to a mechanical defect.

A vehicle examiner, at the test centre, found numerous defects and deemed it unroadworthy.

The examiner concluded the crash was most likely caused by failure of a power steering pump.

Dickinson, of Athol Court, Port Erin, didn’t attend court, but sent a postal admission to having a vehicle in a dangerous condition.

His licence was endorsed with three points and he’ll pay the fine, plus £50 prosecution costs, at a rate of £200 per month.
