The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice, which it says could be a problem till 10am.
The forecast:
Mainly dry this morning with sunny intervals, then wintry showers this afternoon falling as snow over high ground and a mixture of sleet or hail to lower levels. Strong and gusty westerly wind veering northwest this afternoon, top temperature 7°C with significant wind chill.
Cold start tomorrow and mainly dry but also sunny intervals. Cloud thickening in the afternoon with rain later in the evening and overnight. Southwest winds strengthening through the day, highest temperature 8°C.
Becoming unsettled this weekend with outbreaks of rain that may be heavy at times, as well as strong to gale force winds.
