An 11-year-old student from The Buchan School has been cleaning up rivers in the island during his spare time.
John Moore has donned his wet suit in a mission to clear rubbish from the island’s waterways during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Year 6 student has cleared discarded bicycles, scooters and more from the rivers Dhoo and Glass around the NSC between Quarterbridge and Pulrose Bridge.
His father, Richard, said: ’John wanted to clean rivers to get out of the house and to have an adventure with a real purpose.
’He’s had rusty riverside support from dad.’
John called the condition of the rivers, in terms of rubbish that has been thrown away, ’disappointing’.
His father added that John is planning on exploring the River Neb, the Sulby River and more.
