Douglas Borough Council will resume its kerbside collection service next week, having been suspended in late March due to Covid-19.
The kerbside recycling Service will recommence week commencing May 18 (Monday).
A spokesman said: ’Householders should refer to their recycling calendar to find out when their collection is due.
’Initially the service will be for glass bottles and cans only, and we would gratefully request that both materials are rinsed and placed in separate boxes.
’The reason for this temporary change is to eliminate the risk of handling material which could be contaminated with the virus.
’Having boxes contain a single material type enables the content to be tipped direct in to the hopper without needing to separate by hand.’
’For plastic and paper, please note that in the short term these can be disposed of at the government’s bring banks situated around the island.’
