Today (Friday) is the final opportunity to submit nominations for the 2020 edition of the Isle of Man Sports Awards.

It is hoped that the annual event will still be held in front of a live audience at the Villa Marina’s Royal Hall on Thursday, March 25.

It will celebrate the achievements of the island’s top athletes, coaches and teams in a year filled with unprecedented challenges.

The evening will also shine a light on the unsung heroes that have worked tirelessly to keep sport going despite the global pandemic.

As a result of lockdown restrictions imposed during the coronavirus crisis, the previous event was moved online for the first time, with hundreds of people streaming the awards from the comfort of their own homes.

Despite the 2020 sporting calendar being limited by Covid-19 restrictions, the evening, sponsored by Microgaming PlayItForward, will hopefully return to its regular format.

l To nominate, post a completed form (below right) to Isle of Man Sport Office, National Sports Centre, Groves Road, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 2RB.

Alternatively, email to [email protected] or complete the online form available at www.isleofmansport.com/iom-sports-awards/online-nomination-form-iom-sports-awards/

This year, the male and female under-21 categories are combined, in addition to which there is a new award in honour of former Island Games swimmer, coach and Commonwealth Games chef de mission Leonie Cooil to celebrate examples of resilience and courage within Isle of Man sport.
