The Laxey Wheel has stopped turning, turning, turning.
A routine inspection found structural damage to a connecting timber rod and the decision was taken to stop Lady Isabella turning to avoid further damage, MNH confirmed today.A detailed assessment is to be carried out by engineers and MNH hope to have the issue resolved and the Wheel turning again as soon as possible.The timber rod coonects the main crank to the L-rocker and counter-balance bucket at the front of the wheel.The site remains open to the public.
