Safer Internet Day will be marked in the island with a series of free drop-in sessions .
The government is hosting the sessions in collaboration with Manx Telecom and Sure.
The sessions will take place at the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal on Tuesday, February 11, from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas said: ’We are delighted to be able to offer these invaluable free online safety sessions to the public in order to build confidence in getting the most out of the online experience in a secure and informed way.
’Further digital inclusion sessions and workshops focused on building skills and trust, will be held later in the year to run parallel with the digital inclusion awareness campaign from our work with the British-Irish Council.’
A team will be on hand to answer questions on staying safe online, device security, passwords, scam spotting or reducing the risk of fraud and keeping children and young people safe.
In addition there will be the opportunity to bring your device with you for a free security health check from Sure or Manx Telecom.
Safer Internet Day was launched 15 years ago by the joint Insafe/INHOPE network, with the support of the European Commission to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology.
