Ramsey RNLI volunteers were called into action during the early hours of Wednesday after a commercial fishing vessel experienced difficulties off the island’s north-east coast.
The charity’s lifeboat, the Ann and James Ritchie II, was tasked at 12.10am to assist the vessel, which was around two miles east of Ramsey harbour entrance.
The lifeboat crew quickly reached the casualty vessel and came alongside while its crew recovered their anchor.
A tow was then established, with the fishing vessel safely returned to Ramsey harbour by around 1.30am.
The operation was carried out as quickly as possible to prevent the incoming tide from affecting the recovery of the lifeboat.
Ramsey RNLI said the efforts of its Shore Launch and Recovery System (SLARS) team ensured the lifeboat was returned to its carriage just as the beach became unsuitable for recovery operations.
The lifeboat was rehoused and ready for further service shortly after 2.30am.
The Ann and James Ritchie II is Ramsey RNLI’s inshore lifeboat and is launched from the beach near the harbour.
The early-hours call-out saw volunteers respond promptly to assist the fishing vessel and ensure it was brought safely back to harbour.
