If things go to plan and the doors start to open next weekend, then live music should start to make a return to the island’s pubs, clubs and venues.
One local band who are keen to get back to the stage are Baad Acid.
The self-styled ’eclectic, electric, psychedelic drone pop’ group are lined up to play the next ’Made In Mann’ concert in the Promenade Suite at the Villa Marina on Friday, April 23 from 7.30pm, with support coming from A Clown Calls For War and The Persian Carpets.
The ’Made In Mann’ concerts are hosted by the Isle of Man Arts Council in order to give original Manx bands chance to play at the island’s biggest venue. The gigs began following the lifting of the first lockdown last June and concerts featuring a wide variety of local acts - including Voodoo Bandits, Biskee Brisht, Mad Daddy, Man In The Woods, the Getaways and a Stone’s Throw - have played to more than 600 people.
’We are so glad to be continuing this music series with the help of the Arts Council,’ said Emma Callin, head of Villa Marina.
’We are evolving VillaGaiety’s relationship with local music and we welcome the opportunity to provide the platform of a professional music venue especially for bands who might not have played here before.’
The Made In Mann concerts are free to enter.
