The Deep South Festival is back!
Appearing at the Colby-based festival over the course of the weekend is a plethora of local bands and singer/songwriters all stepping up to the musical plate.
Over the course of the evening on Friday, you’ll be able to catch Phil Reynolds and the Dearly Departed, The Clown Calls for War, Hamish Faragher, Daisy Dixon, Matt Kelly and The Fecktones.
Saturday kicks off at the earlier time of 11am and sees The Ian Thompson Band, Baad Acid, The Fletcher Christian Mutiny, Psychoholic, The Ballaghs, Mad Daddy and Eugene Wilson amongst many others.
Sunday kicks of even earlier at 10am with Gypo Buggane of Ballagroove Records kicking off the final day alongside Alice Dudley, Tender Rage, Christa McCartney and The Mollag Band on the bill to finish off the festival for another year.
Elsewhere on the island, this Saturday night sees rock boys Final Cut head to the Amber stage for their debut show at the Douglas venue.
The doors for this free event open at 8pm with the music kicking off just after 9pm.
Continuing their run of shows as part of their campaign trail in support of latest album, ’Headswims’, Truman Falls are at The Mines Tavern in Laxey this Saturday night from 9.30pm onwards.
Led by singer/songwriter Simon Rea, the band is completed by fellow band members Paul Teare, Dave Armstrong, Jonny Peacock, Anna Goldsmith and Mark Burrows.
Head to Jaks this Friday and you’ll find Mae Challis heading back out onto the live circuit after a little time away.
Mae lists her influences from Queen, Oasis, KT Tunstall and Joni Mitchell to Coldplay, Train, James Morrison, Skrillex, Bruno Mars and Emeli Sande.
Staying with Jaks and Saturday night sees a return to the venue for 995 after their recent TT show.
The band has been out there and making themselves known to the Manx gig goers for a fair while now and after a brief hiatus last year are back out and making themselves heard on the local live scene.
The band drop a variety of pieces into their setlist ranging from more modern pieces from the likes of One Republic and James Bay via Kings of Leon and Stereophonics to older classics from Jimi Hendrix, The Jam, Python Lee Jackson, The Cult and Steppenwolf amongst many others.
The band will hit the stage from around 9.30pm onwards.
