An international cycling event is to take place over three days next month.

The Manx International, from August 2 to 4, is part of the UK National Road Race Championships.

Many of Britain’s leading male riders and national champions will compete in four stages.

They are likely to include Olympic gold medallist Ed Clancy, 2016 Manx International winner Ian Bibby, as well as a number of islanders who have turned professional such as Mark Christian from Team Wiggins, the Zappi team comprising Nathan Draper and Team Tifosi which has brothers Tom and Leon Mazzone among its ranks.

The opening stage on Friday, August 2, will be a 50-lap kermesse on a circuit around the Isle of Man Business Park and part of Cooil Road.

That will be followed by two stages on Saturdayt - a 3.8-mile Hill Climb and 15-lap circuit race - before the climax of the event on Sunday, with the three-lap road race around the TT course.

Cycling shop and gym Cycle 360, which is based in the business park, is sponsoring the event.
