A rider has been airlifted to Noble’s Hospital following an incident during the opening qualifying session of the 2026 Manx Grand Prix.

Salvatore Sallutro, riding bike number 18, came off at Greeba Bridge on the Mountain Course during the first lap of the opening Sportbike and Junior MGP qualifying session on Sunday afternoon, race organisers have confirmed.

He has been taken to Noble’s Hospital by Airmed for further assessment and treatment.

Organisers said a further update on his condition would be provided in due course.

The Junior MGP and Sportbike qualifying session had got underway at around 3.30pm before a red flag was issued just minutes later.

At 3.35pm, organisers confirmed the session had been stopped and warned that roads around the TT Mountain Course would remain closed until further notice.

A further update was issued at 3.50pm confirming there would be no more qualifying action during the opening day of the event because of deteriorating weather conditions around the course.

The Clerk of the Course confirmed the decision, bringing Sunday’s planned action to an early end.

Organisers subsequently confirmed that the red flag had followed the incident involving Sallutro at Greeba Bridge.

All roads around the course were confirmed as open at 5.28pm.

Further qualifying for the Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT is scheduled to take place during the coming week.
