Monday evening's Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT qualifying session has been cancelled.

Organisers confirmed the decision after the inclement weather failed to clear in time to allow roads around the Mountain Course to dry.

In a statement, race control said: 'Roads around a large section of the TT Course are wet and, with further rain forecast, conditions are not expected to have improved sufficiently for qualifying to take place.

'Tomorrow’s (Tuesday's) schedule remains unchanged.'

Roads are due to close at 6pm on Tuesday evening before action gets underway at 6.30pm when qualifying takes place in the Senior and Supersport classes.

Then it's the turn of the Junior and Sportbike MGP machines to take to the course at 7.15pm. before the Classic bikes head out for one lap at 7.50pm.

Roads will re-open no later than 9pm.
