In The Blood is a band that has been around on the Manx music scene for a little over three years now.

The ’supergroup’, as you might call them, was formed by guitarist James Craig, from Pigs On The Wing. The vacant drum stool was filled by A Little Bitta’ Rosie skinsman Andy James with Dave Brew of local Prog band Kvarken joining to take up vocal duties.

The line-up was completed with the inclusion of Jamie Christian from Jester’s Dead on bass and, more recently, Nell Kneale and Phil Hatton of The Fletcher Christian Mutiny and Ed Force One fame handling second and third guitar duties.

A pretty expansive sound then! So, for those that may not have seen them, what do they sound like? Well, they cite their influences as anywhere from Progressive Rock to Country Blues with a smattering of Rock.

The band is just about to launch their debut album of which the single ’The Delay Has Arrived’, lifted from the album preceded in October last year, which can be heard on youtube.

Which takes us to this Saturday night and to the album launch in question. Held at Noa Bakehouse, and kicking off at 8pm, tickets are £10.00 on the door on a first come, first served basis, plus you’ll get a free copy of the album upon arrival.

Another new release to look out for is from singer-songwriter David Woodgett.

He released a three-track EP Changing Dice at the start of May, through the Small Bear Record label.

It features songs written during his time touring in the South East Asia last year.

Influenced by the likes of Kurt Vile, Adam Granduciel and Ty Segal, Changing Dice features heavy riffs and laidback, bluesy rhythms not unlike Black Rebel Motorcycle club and the Stone Roses.

You can download the EP on a name your price from davidwoodgett.bandcamp.com

Alternatively, £4 buys you the CD, which comes with a bonus copy of his 2015 debut release, Over The Ash Tree.

Alternative Rock boys The Clown Calls For War have released their new video for the track ’Fill Your Eyes’ this week.

Shot on location around Douglas a couple of weeks ago, the finished article can be seen at on youtube.

Finally this week we head West to The Creek in Peel. If you’re out that way this weekend you can catch Ian Thompson and the Band treading the boards on Friday night.

Ian will also be playing a selection of tracks from his recently released debut album via U.S. label, The Spectra Music Group.

That’s all for this week, thanks for reading!
