The Mountain Road is to close for the whole of next week for emergency repairs.

Ramsey Commissioners said: ’The Department of Infrastructure has notified of the need to carry out essential and urgent repair works on a number of collapsed drainage culverts on the A18 Mountain Road before the onset of winter.’

The road will be closed from Ramsey Hairpin to the Creg ny Baa from 6am on Monday, September 17 to 6pm on Friday, September 21.

A DoI spokesman stated: 'The Department for Enterprise will also be using the opportunity to remove Mountain Course furniture following the Festival of Motorcycling last month.

'Parking will be suspended through Laxey 8am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm each day during the closure to help the flow of commuter traffic.'
