Hundreds of dancing youngsters finally made it to the stage to perform a spectacular show on the Gaiety stage.
The dancers from the Move It School of Dance performed their show ’Move It To The Rescue’, a concept-led dance production that featured a young girl, played by Emma Louise Taylor, who discovers super powers and saves the world from a nefarious bad guy, all told through a series of dance routines.
The young stars were made to wait for months before being able to perform their show, as they were all set to hit the stage when the Gaiety was forced to shut its doors.
Move It dance director Kate Caine said they were all relieved to finally get to show what their students were capable of and they were proud of how they handled themselves. ’We were absolutely delighted that, despite the current pandemic and fears surrounding this, more than 900 people came over the two days to see our talented students,’ said Kate.
’As one of the only places in Europe with live theatre we all felt very privileged to be able to perform our show for the Manx public.
’As our show isn’t a "normal" dance school recital, we were apprehensive at how our self written show would be received. However we had nothing to worry about as we are inundated with praise at our tenacity to make it happen.
’It was a big risk staging the show with uncertainty over ticket sales and potential further restrictions.
’We had amazing support and each student can now take a fabulous memory for what has been a year to forget.
’We even did a real-time stream for those family members who can’t be with us because of border restrictions so no one missed out on the fun.’
The Move It Dance School is now working on its next grand show, which is due to take place in 2022.
