My name is Barbara Wallace and I’m the Technical Services Manager for Ramsey Town Commissioners
2. What was your first job?
My first job was working behind a counter of the corner shop on my road.
3. What did you want to be when you were at school?
I wanted to be a nursery nurse working with children when I left school.
4. What qualifications/training do you need for your job?
I have a Higher National Certificate in Construction and the Built Environment, NEBOSH Health and Safety certificates and some leadership training to name but a few.
5. What is the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is the diversity of the work that we do to serve the Town and the staff.
6. What is the most difficult thing about your job?
The most difficult part is managing the public’s expectations as to what we can deliver.
7. What are the most important qualities you need for your role?
The most important qualities you need for this role are patience, quick thinking and sense of humour.
8. What advice would you give to someone who wants to get into the same industry?
Study hard, have a go at everything so you can have a better understanding of what people need to do to achieve the desired outcome, keep learning and don’t stop.
