Isle of Man Clay Pigeon Shooting Club’s Sadler Agricultural Supplies Sporting Championship was held at Meary Veg, Santon last week.

A field of 26 competitors took part in near-ideal conditions. A testing course of 12 stands greeted the shooters over two laps of six stands, with singles, report pairs, instant pairs and trailing pairs set out.

The leader at the halfway stage was Alan Wade with 40 points, while in second on 39 was Dave Corlett with Neil Parsons third on 38. Nigel Moffatt was fourth on 37 followed by John Moore in fifth on 36 and completing the top six were Ben Richards and Jack Kneen on 35.

At the end of the second lap, Nicky Barnett was the winner of C class with 41 points and also took second in the women’s section behind Corina Moffatt on 50.

Arran Wade was second in the junior class with 62 points but Joe Faragher narrowly beat him by one point by scoring 63.

In B class, a shoot-off was required to find out who claimed second place between Jack Clague and George Davies who both scored 66 - in the end, Clague was the winner by scoring seven to Davies’s five. The winner of B class was Moore on 71.

There was also a three-way tie for the runner-up spot in A class between Nigel Moffatt, Alan Kinrade and Jake Keeling all on 72, with Kinrade coming out on top after hitting nine to Keeling’s seven and Moffatt’s five. The winner of A class with 73 points was Alan Wade.

Third place overall went to Richards on 74, with Corlett taking the runner-up spot with 75 points but the new Sporting Champion for 2021 is Parsons with 77 points.

This Saturday afternoon sees the third rounds of the Sadler Agricultural Supplies ABT and the Manx Petroleum’s Olympic Skeet League take place, then on Sunday is the Crowe Morgan English Skeet GP over 125 targets.
