So this is what we’ve endured months of delays and disruption for.

The first part of the Promenade reconstruction scheme opened last night (Thursday).

And first impressions of the new-look Loch Promenade are, well, distinctly underwhelming.

The red concrete which has been a headache for contractors throughout the project is in varying shades of faded pink.

Its purpose on Loch Prom, where the horse tramway will eventually run on the seaward side of the road, is unclear.

The patterned green, white and grey paviours will likely receive a mixed response.

And motorists will certainly take a view on the narrowing of the carriageway.

Completion date for the project has been pushed back towards June from a revised end date of March 31.
