People on benefits will not get money in their bank accounts today because of what the government describes as ’an administrative issue’.

A government statement reads: 'Benefits payments which were due to be credited to customers’ bank accounts today will not reach their bank accounts until Monday, December 9.

’Treasury staff are currently investigating the issue, and are extremely sorry for the delay.’

People in urgent need should call social security staff on 685092, 685094 or 685105.
