Panic buying has left supermarket shelves empty.
It comes despite a plea from the Chief Minister who said: ‘There is absolutely no need to stock up. Our freight continues to flow and you will recall there were no problems in the spring during lockdown.‘Please shop responsibly. Be considerate and leave supplies for others.’Mr Quayle said UK supply chains have remained stable.People should shop individually or with their child if they are a single parent.The Co-op will have social distancing measures back in all stores. Customer numbers in store will be limited to six allow social distancing and you may need to queue outside. Staff will be manning the doors to control this.The Co-op will re-implement its Elderly and Vulnerable persons priority shopping hour from 9am to 10am daily.Co-op area manager Andy Corrie said: ‘While we have plenty of stock coming in we have seen some panic buying so will for a few days limit customers to two of any item per transaction to make sure that there is enough to go round.’
