Staff at the Northern Civic Amenity Centre have received verbal abuse, says Ramsey Town Commissioners.
On social media, representatives for the site have explained that cars will now be checked upon arrival following reports of abuse towards the staff and site.
A statement from the Commissioners, who are a part of a joint committee that manages the running of the site, said: ’Unfortunately, we have had a number of incidents where our staff have received abuse from visitors to the site when being challenged about the waste they have brought to the site.

’In order to assist with our compliance obligations and to assist staff with the smooth operation of the site we will be checking vehicles when they enter the site to establish what waste they wish to dispose of.
’Advice will be offered where we are unable to accept the waste.
’We have previously done this when the site was operating in a reduced mode following the pandemic lockdowns.’

Ramsey Town Commissioners manage the day to day operation of the Northern Civic Amenity Centre along with the northern local authorities of Andreas, Ballaugh, Bride, Garff, Jurby and Lezayre.
