Douglas Council had just 12 empty properties at the end of August.

Housing chairman Claire Wells said that the council has 218 peoples or families on its waiting list for housing.

That figure doesn’t include those seeking to move to bigger or small homes.

In August 12 properties were returned to the council, with three ready for reallocation by the end of the month.

The figures were released during the council’s October sitting.
