More than 25,000 passengers have been helped with alternative travel arrangements following the extension of the Manxman's dry dock period, the Steam Packet has said.
The ferry operator says it has now completed amendments to its sailing schedules up to September 2 as work continues in dry dock on its flagship vessel.
In an update issued to customers, the company said it had ‘made good progress’ in revising its schedules and confirmed its team is continuing to contact affected passengers directly where changes are required.
The Steam Packet thanked customers for their patience and understanding, adding that regularly updated FAQs are available for those travelling between now and late September. These cover sailing schedules, booking amendments, alternative travel arrangements and customer support.
The latest update follows the announcement that Manxman's planned maintenance period had been extended after additional work was identified during dry dock. The vessel is now expected to remain out of service until at least late September.
During the extended disruption, Ben-my-Chree has continued to operate passenger services, while freight capacity has been supplemented by the Arrow.
Questions were raised on social media after a passenger shared photographs of the vessel’s interior, appearing to show missing lights and panels.
The passenger also raised concerns about a lack of space for wheelchair users, the condition of toilets and the comfort of seating onboard.
A Steam Packet spokesperson said the company was aware of the comments and images shared online.
‘As with any project of this scale, there are a small number of outstanding snagging items which are being addressed,’ the spokesperson said.
‘The issues shown in the photographs do not affect the vessel’s safe operation or service delivery.’
